Food Safety.
Our commitment to you.
TMI. Food Safety Edition.
At Zack’s Food Stuff, LLC, we take food safety seriously.
All products are prepared in a licensed kitchen inspected by the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development (MDARD). We follow all required safety and sanitation procedures to ensure the quality and integrity of everything we make.
We monitor and document pH, temperature, and proper sealing procedures for all shelf-stable products. Ingredients are responsibly sourced and handled with care, equipment is sanitized regularly, and each batch is made with precision to keep things clean, safe, and compliant.
Basically, we follow the rules — even the boring ones.
Our team maintains up-to-date food safety certifications, including:
ServSafe Food Manager / Food Handler
ServSafe Food Protection Manager is a nationally recognized certification that shows someone understands proper food safety practices. It covers critical topics that pertain to running a safe operation overall.
Better Process Control School (BPCS) – Acidified Foods Certification
This certification is required by the FDA for anyone making acidified foods (like shelf-stable pickles).
Basically, it proves you know how to safely make and package acidified foods so they won’t grow scary bacteria. One person with this certification is required to be on premises during all processing — and wouldn’t you know it, that’s me.
MDARD Food License - The BIG One
The MDARD food retail license is the top-level approval necessary from the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development (MDARD) that allows a food business to legally produce, bottle, and sell products like hot sauce and pickles, without needing a co-packer or commercial cannery. Only we handle our product.
This was a beast. But we slayed it in flavor’s name. Now everyone gets great hot sauce and pickles, simple as.
Yup. We defeated the final boss of food licensing in Michigan — and we’re not shy about it.
